Greta Gerell, born in 1898, was the daughter of the US Consul General in Stockholm. Influenced by literature and music from a young age, she pursued painting and joined the Royal Academy of Fine Arts at 17. After studying in Paris with prominent artists like Picasso and Braque, she returned to Sweden, where she gained acclaim for her post-Impressionist landscapes and still lifes. Gerell exhibited internationally and established a foundation in 1967 to support educational programs. Her work is celebrated for its poetic and timeless quality.
